About The Social Scholar
Equity and equality in education, work and life should not be aspirational, but a right afforded to all Americans. Yet, for too many people of color and the poor, a different reality exists. The Social Scholar aims to create a conversation among advocates who believe we can do more to ensure all children have the resources and supportive environments they need to succeed academically, from cradle to career.
The Social Scholar will highlight policies and practices in education and the workplace, and other socially relevant topics that call for our attention. We will learn and share together, vent and cry, and celebrate and high-five as we bring to light stories of inequities and stories of progress and triumph. More importantly, we will encourage one another to act, to be change agents, to never stop believing that because we are all created equal, we all deserve to learn, work and live in systems of equity and equality.
I believe: when we know better, we do better.
I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better. ~ Maya Angelou
